Let's find out what do they offer...

The Wholistic Wellness Escape is meant for clients to improve their health holistically.
The package includes a great stay in the Garden Wing, several relaxation activities such as Tai Chi, yoga, Pilates, meditation and the Chi Spa treatments (wraps, rubs, massages and facials).

Collaborating closely with Penang Adventist Hospital, the program also have customized a personal wellness consultation, wellness screening and a spa meal that has been reviewed carefully by the nutritionist for nutrient and calorie aspects.

Wholistic Wellness Menu that exclusively designed for clients in the program.
Healthy yet low calorie snack provided by Shangri-La's Rasa Sayang and Spa Resort for their guests.
**Tips for eating out: You could always ask for a separate dressing, just like how Rasa Sayang prepared for their guests. It helps you to reduce your calorie intake. Don't forget, dressing like thousand island and mayonnaise do contribute to your calorie intake. Separating the dressing is giving people a choice.
Let's take closer shots on their yummy yet nutritious food.

Dessert: Gluten-free Chocolate Cake, 198 calories
**Gluten-free food is not common among Asians but more among Caucasians. Celiac disease is a genetic disorder that own immune system attacks small intestine when individuals consume gluten. Foods that contain gluten (one kind of protein) are wheat, barley, malt and etc.

So, gluten-free food is not necessary for healthy people who doesn't have Celiac disease, but it's a must for those who are Celiac disease patients.
Dessert: Berries Yogurt Trifle, 170 calories
**Diabetic patients might have challenges when it comes to dessert. Fruity desserts are comparably healthier than cakes and pastry as they contain naturally occurring sugar, not added sugar. Also, fruits are unprocessed plant-food which are high in fiber. Fiber acts like a filter paper that slows down the absorption of glucose into the bloodstream. Unlike greatly processed dessert which contain very high sugar that would definitely spikes the sugar level. And, of course, always keep your dessert to the last. Why? First reason, you may be too full/satisfied to have dessert, which is good to reduce your intake. Second reason, fiber from the main meal would absolutely helps to slow down glucose absorption and stabilize blood glucose level.
Dessert: Strawberry Shortcake, 200 calories
Soup: Mixed Mushroom Soup, 78 calories
Soup: Avocado Soup with Crab Meat, 145 calories
**Despite of its high calorie, avocado has very rich monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA), similar to olive oil, is definitely good for heart health.
Protein dish: Poached Norwegian Salmon, 248 calories
**Other than grilling, roasting, smoke and sauteing, poaching apparently appears as one of the healthy cooking methods that do not use oil during the process.
Appetizer: Caprese Salad, 180 calories
Appetizer: Roasted Garlic Hummus with Pita Wedges, 175 calories
**Other than the benefits mentioned in my previous post about Hummus, it also contains very high fiber. Why? Simply because it's made from chickpeas, a plant-based food. Fiber not only helps to stabalize glucose level, it also helps to promote bowel health too. If you have any issues in popo-ing, you may want to recall if you have enough plant-based food.
Protein dish: Smoked Salmon Bagel, 270 calories
Main dish: Asparagus, Chicken, and Penne Pasta, 363 calories
Super-Healthy: Fresh Carrot, Celery, Orange, Romaine Lettuce and Ginger
360 degree Boost: Lime Juice, Watermelon Juice, Green Apple Juice and Pineapple
Tropical Harvest: Fresh Mango, Banana, Pineapple, Orange and Papaya
Took a short break and boosted up my vitamin C.
